Arabic Font Support
Quran uses an Uthmani-style Arabic font when inserting verses. If the Arabic text looks different, too small, or falls back to a plain system font, the font may not be installed or available to Microsoft Word on your computer.
Word for the web: The preview inside the add-in can use the bundled web font, but inserted document text is rendered by Word itself. Word for the web may fall back to another Arabic font if the Uthmani font is not available in that Word environment. For the most consistent Uthmani rendering, use the desktop version of Word with the font installed, then export to PDF when the visual appearance must stay fixed.
Example appearance when an Uthmani Quran font is available:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Install a compatible Uthmani Quran font on your computer, such as KFGQPC Uthmanic Script HAFS.
- Use a desktop-installable font file, such as .otf or .ttf, obtained from the official font provider or another source your organization is allowed to use.
- Fully quit Microsoft Word and open it again so Word reloads the font list.
- Insert the verse again from the add-in.
- If needed, select the inserted Arabic text in Word and choose the installed Uthmani font manually from Word's font menu.
Note: If you share a document with someone who does not have the same font installed, Word may show a fallback Arabic font on their device. Exporting to PDF after checking the layout is the safest option when the visual appearance must stay consistent.
